    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for a registered patent agent with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or immunology.

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and three or more years of patent prosecution experience. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, immunooncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology would be particularly useful.

Ideally, candidates will have experience negotiating and drafting agreements regarding intellectual property rights, including patent license agreements with universities and collaboration agreements with pharmaceutical companies. Experience representing clients at board of director meetings, as well as speaking on panels and at conferences is preferred.

  • Junior IP Litigation Associate - New York

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Litigation group has an opening in our New York office for a lawyer with one to two years of litigation experience. Experience in cases involving patent or other IP rights is helpful, but not required. The position will involve representation of biopharma manufacturers, research institutions and universities in patent, inventorship, and contract disputes before U.S. courts, in arbitral proceedings, in the International Trade Commission, and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The caseload is also expected to include litigation in the areas of false advertising, trademark, copyright, and business disputes. A science degree is not required.

    Candidates with experience limited to a judicial clerkship are welcomed. Such candidates should apply directly, rather than through a recruiter.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Litigation group has an opening in our Boston office for a lawyer with a minimum of three to five years of experience in cases involving patent and other IP rights.  The position will include representation of biopharma manufacturers, research institutions and universities in patent, inventorship, and contract disputes before U.S. courts, in arbitral proceedings, in the International Trade Commission, and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  These disputes commonly involve IP licenses, collaboration agreements, and other IP-related issues as well.  Experience working with life sciences companies and/or universities is preferred.  A science degree is desirable, but not required.
