Patent Associate - Computer Science
March 7, 2018
Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York or Boston office for an associate with a background in Computer Science. An M.S. or M.Eng. in Computer Science or a B.S. in Computer Science with relevant industry experience is preferred. Course work in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or applied mathematics is a plus.
We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and up to three years of patent prosecution experience. Technical experience in the areas of machine learning, image analysis, cryptography, and software architecture would be particularly useful. A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired.
We staff our clients’ patent matters leanly, affording associates an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. Associates typically work one-on-one with partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact. Such experience has contributed to the firm’s consistently excellent rankings in various national satisfaction surveys and industry recognition lists.Candidates should click here to apply.
