Foley Hoag LLP represented EcoSense Lighting Inc. in its $13 million Series B financing led by Bain Capital Ventures in Boston. Jeffrey Glass, Managing Director of Bain Capital, has been elected to the Board of Directors.

EcoSense, founded in 2009 by its chairman, George Mueller, provides best-in-class solid-state lighting solutions for commercial and residential use. Designed to replace conventional white light sources for industrial, commercial and residential applications, EcoSense products eliminate many of the challenges of traditional lighting — such as excessive heat, UV emissions, and insufficient bulb life — to offer substantial energy and monetary savings for customers. This financing round will enable EcoSense to expand its operations domestically and internationally. Foley Hoag also assisted EcoSense in closing prior financings.

George Mueller also co-founded Color Kinetics, which was subsequently acquired by Royal Philips Electronics in 2007 for nearly $800 million. Foley Hoag represented Color Kinetics throughout its lifecycle, from its early financings, through its initial public offering, and eventually its sale to Philips.
