Constantinos Salonidis, a foreign associate in Foley Hoag LLP's International Litigation and Arbitration Practice, recently authored a chapter on the jurisdictional powers of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Investment Treaty Arbitration and International Law (I. Laird and T. Weiler eds.).

The chapter, entitled "Inherent Powers in ICSID Arbitration," focuses on the assertion of inherent powers within the context of arbitration under the auspices of the ICSID Convention. Within the text, Salonidis also analyzes the relevant practices of other international courts and tribunals; examines certain illustrations of the concept in the practice of ICSID tribunals; and addresses limitations to the exercise of such powers safeguarding against arbitrators' overreach.

This volume contains the papers and proceedings of the fifth annual Juris conference on international investment arbitration. Other topics covered include the meaning of investment under the ICSID Convention; compliance with - and enforcement of - ISCID awards; and the choice between annulment and appeal in future ICSID institution building.
