Foley Hoag Recognized on 2017 GAR 30 Ranking of World's Leading International Arbitration Practices

April 11, 2017

Foley Hoag LLP has once again been ranked among the top 30 law firms in the world in the 2017 GAR 30 List, presented by the Global Arbitration Review (GAR). The GAR 30 List is an annual ranking of the world's best international arbitration practices, based on the number of arbitral hearings conducted by a firm over a two-year period.

In compiling the list, GAR takes into consideration a firm's number of merits and jurisdictional hearings, the amount in dispute in those cases and the number of hours billed to arbitration. Ranking is also based on the number of arbitrator appointments a firm’s members have received and the number of individuals who appear in GAR’s sister publication, Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration – a guide to the leading practitioners in the field as selected by their peers.

Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration Practice has more than 30 highly experienced international litigators based in its Washington, Boston, New York and Paris offices, and specializes in the representation of sovereign States and State-owned enterprises in disputes before international courts and arbitral tribunals. The firm’s lawyers are trained in both the common and civil law systems, fluent in more than 15 languages, and highly regarded for their skill in both written and oral advocacy. Many have been ranked by Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, Chambers USA, Legal 500, American Lawyer, Arbitration Scorecard and Option, Droit et Affaires.

The firm has successfully represented more than 40 States before the International Court of Justice (ICJ); the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS); the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA); the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID); the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC); the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA); the American Arbitration Association (AAA); and other regionally or nationally based arbitral fora.

Foley Hoag also represents State-owned enterprises and private companies in international commercial and construction arbitration, and the national arbitration laws of numerous countries in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and North America.
