Jeremy Evans represents insured businesses, institutions and individuals in litigation to obtain coverage under various lines of property and casualty insurance, including general and umbrella liability insurance and directors and officers insurance. His clients have included a major diversified manufacturing company, manufacturers of products as varied as medical devices and valves, companies with legacy environmental or asbestos liabilities, and other insured businesses, institutions, and individuals. On their behalf Jeremy has litigated to obtain reimbursement of defense and indemnity costs, including in such complex and contentious areas as asbestos litigation and environmental liability. Jeremy has also represented policyholders in pursuing recovery from insurance brokers due to broker malpractice.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained summary judgment entitling a large diversified manufacturer to the full limits of liability under a $10 million general liability policy despite the policy’s cancellation threemonths into its term, and prevailed on appeal before the First Circuit.
  • Represented a valve manufacturer in litigation to maximize recovery from multiple insurers of defense costs incurred defending hundreds of asbestos cases.
  • Represents several businesses pursuing insurers for reimbursement of defense and indemnification costs in connection with complex environmental liabilities.
  • Represents a medical device manufacturer in effort to obtain reimbursement of a $100 million from excess insurance carriers in connection with alleged device failure.
  • Assisted the improperly terminated CEO of a Fortune 100 company in obtaining millions of dollars of benefits due under an employment agreement.
  • Obtained partial summary judgment victories for a well-known non-profit institution in seeking to obtain insurance proceeds for clean-up of contaminants from an underground oil storage tank.
  • Assisted in defending a Big 4 accounting firm in a complex securities class-action suit.
