    July 8, 2021

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for a chemist with an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Chemistry.

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Both entry-level and experienced candidates will be considered. Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of small molecules, pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, polymer science and drug discovery would be useful, but is not necessary. A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired.  Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Litigation group has openings in our Boston and New York offices for a lawyer with a minimum of three years of experience in complex commercial litigation, preferably including litigation involving patent rights. The position will involve representation of biopharma manufacturers, research institutions and universities in patent, inventorship, trade secrets, licensing and other contract disputes before U.S. courts, in arbitral proceedings, in the International Trade Commission, and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Experience in the life sciences space is preferred. A science degree is desirable but not required.

  • International Litigation and Arbitration Associate (Temporary)

    March 25, 2021

    Foley Hoag’s internationally recognized International Litigation and Arbitration Practice has an immediate opening for a junior to mid-level associate in our Washington, DC office, for a six-month period (with the possibility, but not the guarantee, of an extension).  The individual must be able to work remotely for at least the initial six-month tenure.  We seek applicants with experience in investor-state arbitration and/or international commercial arbitration cases.  Preference will be given to candidates with a knowledge of procedures before the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and/or the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).  Spanish fluency required, and native Spanish fluency preferred.  Additional strong foreign language skills are also a plus.  Principals only; we are not accepting applications from recruiters for this position.
