    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for an associate who is a registered patent attorney with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology or immunology.

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and at least two years of prior patent prosecution experience. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, immunooncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology would be particularly useful.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for a candidate with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or immunology.

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills. We have openings for both entry-level and experienced candidates. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, immunooncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology would be particularly useful.  A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Litigation group has an opening in the Boston office for a lawyer with a minimum of three to five years of experience in cases involving patent and other IP rights. The position will include representation of biopharma manufacturers, research institutions and universities in patent, inventorship, and contract disputes before U.S. courts, in arbitral proceedings, in the International Trade Commission, and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. These disputes commonly involve IP licenses, collaboration agreements, and other IP-related issues as well. Experience working with life sciences companies and/or universities is preferred. A science degree is desirable, but not required.

    February 15, 2019

    Foley Hoag seeks a Patent Docket Specialist with a solid understanding of the United States, International and various foreign Patent Office rules, procedures and guidelines. He/she must be able to apply this information correctly when reviewing PTO submissions to ensure we are meeting the requirements set in the respective communications. The integrity of the information maintained in the system is vital to ensuring the legal staff meet critical deadlines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and maintaining patent prosecution files, maintaining database, entering deadlines and other case-specific data into docketing system, interpreting documents and identifying deadlines, preparing weekly and periodic reports, and following-up on deadlines. The coordinator must be available to work overtime when required to meet the demands of this position. In addition, any general office administrative functions as necessary.
