  • Patent Associate - Electrical or Electromechanical Engineer

    June 23, 2020

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York or Boston office for an associate who is a registered patent attorney with a background in electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering or related field, such as mechanical engineering, engineering physics, computer engineering, or mechatronics.  Candidates should have a B.S. in a relevant field, though an M.S. or M.Eng. is preferred.  Knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts is a plus. 

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  We will consider both entry-level candidates and those with patent prosecution experience.  Candidates are required to have a USPTO registration.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York or Boston office for a Patent Agent with a background in Computer Science or a related field such as Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Engineering.  We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and 3+ years of patent prosecution experience.  The position will involve representation of a variety of technology companies, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, in patent prosecution related to software inventions. 

    An M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or a B.S. in a relevant field plus significant industry experience is preferred.  A general understanding of artificial intelligence concepts is required.  Technical experience in the areas of machine learning, image analysis, cryptography, or software architecture would be particularly useful.

    Foley Hoag seeks a Senior Patent Docketing Specialist who has an advanced understanding of the United States, International, and various foreign Patent Office rules, procedures, and guidelines. He/She must be able to apply that knowledge across a broad range of tasks and quickly identify critical information and related response deadlines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and maintaining patent prosecution files, maintaining databases, entering deadlines and other case-specific data into the docketing system, interpreting documents and identifying deadlines, preparing weekly and periodic reports, following-up on deadlines and supporting the learning of more junior docket specialists.     Foley Hoag LLP seeks a paralegal for the Business Department with 5+ years of experience as a corporate paralegal in large law firm and/or in house setting supporting either corporate transactions or fund formation lawyers. Responsibilities include supporting Business Department lawyers in preparation for, and the closing of, various business transactions including mergers and acquisitions, financings and private fund formations.
