  • International Trade and Investment Controls Lawyer

    October 8, 2019

    Foley Hoag is seeking a lawyer with significant experience in advising clients on the regulation of U.S. trade and investment, including advising on tariff and trade matters, antidumping and exclusion requests, export controls, economic sanctions, foreign direct investment (including CFIUS) and customs and import laws and regulations.  In addition to advising clients on the application of trade regulations including EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations to their cross-border business operations, the ideal candidate would also assist clients in developing compliance programs and advising with respect to trade issues in pre-and post-acquisition due diligence, advising on voluntary disclosures related to trade compliance and applying and obtaining licenses, permission, and authorizations for the conduct of international trade. The ideal candidate would be located in Foley Hoag’s D.C. office, but candidates will be considered in the Boston or New York offices.

    Foley Hoag’s Trademark, Copyright & Unfair Competition group has an opening in our Boston office for a lawyer with at least one year of law firm experience.  Some experience in the areas of trademark and copyright litigation and prosecution is preferred.

    Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:

    • Patent license agreements, both university and commercial.
    • Trademark license agreements.

  • Corporate Antitrust Lawyer

    Foley Hoag’s Business Department is seeking an antitrust lawyer who can handle all aspects of Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) filings for its Mergers & Acquisitions practice group, including conducting preliminary filing analyses, managing the collection of information and documents required for filings and advising on the contents and submission procedures of HSR filings. The right candidate will have strong experience with HSR regulations and case law and strong understanding of the premerger notification process. The ability to work independently and directly with clients is strongly desired. Some experience with other multi-jurisdictional merger control filings is preferred but not required.  Foley Hoag is open to alternative schedules (e.g., part-time, flexible working hour arrangements or other creative options proposed by a candidate) for this role. He/she must be able to apply this information correctly when reviewing PTO submissions to ensure we are meeting the requirements set in the respective communications.
