Billing Assistant

The Billing Assistant is responsible for all functions relating to the support of client billing.  This role includes managing day-to-day tasks, special projects and preparation of invoices in support of the Billing Administrators.  Strong communication skills are needed to provide excellent support to the Billing Team.


  • Support with write-downs, transfers, divides, combines, narrative edits;
  • Carefully proof and verify accuracy of invoices before sending to Billing Administrator;
  • Recognize and obtain appropriate approvals;
  • Monitor Billing Help Desk support inbox and distribute emails to team;
  • Assistance with electronic billing tasks, including eBilling Hub support;
  • Assistance with obtaining expense backup;
  • Coordination of prior invoices;
  • Support in processing attorney designation changes;
  • Monthly research of credits to determine next steps;
  • Auditing invoices prepared by Billing Administrators;
  • Creating pdfs;
  • Maintain neat work environment; keep filing current;
  • Other projects as assigned.


  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of billing experience preferred, including e-billing experience, in a law firm or other professional services firm
  • Experience with Aderant and/or Elite or similar billing software preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Detail oriented, excellent quality control skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong client service orientation and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients both verbally and in writing
