Junior Patent Associate – Chemistry
June 6, 2022
Foley Hoag seeks a junior associate with 0-3 years of patent prosecution experience to join our Intellectual Property department. Applicants must have an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Chemistry.
Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, and polymer science is preferred, but not required. Any successful candidate who is not a currently registered patent attorney will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.
We staff our clients’ patent matters leanly, affording associates an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. Associates typically work one-on-one with partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact.
This position may be based in either our Boston or New York office.
