  • Patent Associate - Electrical or Electromechanical Engineer

    June 23, 2020

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York or Boston office for an associate who is a registered patent attorney with a background in electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering or related field, such as mechanical engineering, engineering physics, computer engineering, or mechatronics.  Candidates should have a B.S. in a relevant field, though an M.S. or M.Eng. is preferred.  Knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts is a plus. 

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  We will consider both entry-level candidates and those with patent prosecution experience.  Candidates are required to have a USPTO registration.

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York or Boston office for a Patent Agent with a background in Computer Science or a related field such as Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Engineering.  We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and 3+ years of patent prosecution experience.  The position will involve representation of a variety of technology companies, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, in patent prosecution related to software inventions. 

    An M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or a B.S. in a relevant field plus significant industry experience is preferred.  A general understanding of artificial intelligence concepts is required.  Technical experience in the areas of machine learning, image analysis, cryptography, or software architecture would be particularly useful.

    Foley Hoag’s internationally recognized International Litigation and Arbitration Practice has an opening for a junior to mid-level associate in our Washington, DC office to work on public international law, investor/State, and other international disputes involving Arabic-speaking and numerous other countries.

    We seek applicants with a minimum of two years of experience in public international law and international arbitration disputes, written and oral fluency in English and Arabic, and demonstrated excellent writing skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience in cases heard by the International Court of Justice, investor/State arbitral institutions, and/or other international fora.
