  • Patent Practice Assistant

    April 8, 2019

    Foley Hoag seeks recent and upcoming college graduate for a Patent Practice Assistant role. This position will introduce the candidate to working for a patent prosecution practice group in a law firm environment. The patent practice assistant will have the opportunity to work with patent prosecution attorneys while gaining a foundational knowledge of the criteria for patentability. A commitment of at least two years to this position is preferable.

    The Patent Practice Assistant provides support to the patent prosecution practice group in meeting the duty of disclosure requirements. The primary responsibility of the patent practice assistant is to provide support on the prior art management process. This includes, but is not limited to: review of inbound mail for citations, indexing and cataloguing citations in our prior art management system, preparing draft Information Disclosure Statements and compiling copies of reference documents for filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent practice assistant can also provide support to the patent practice group attorneys on project-based work which can include data verification, date review, compiling claim sets and reviewing priority and subject matter related patent families. The patent practice assistant must be available to work overtime when required to meet the workload demands of this position.

  • Patent Supervisor – Foreign Filing and Prior Art Management Teams

    The Patent Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of the Foreign Filing Team and the Prior Art Management Team. The Patent Supervisor will oversee docketed deadlines of the foreign filing and prior art management team to ensure that all deadlines are accounted for in a timely manner.  The Patent Supervisor will act as a liaison between the patent legal and support staff to ensure the foreign filing and the prior art management teams deliver on their defined roles and responsibilities. As a member of the patent administration team, the Patent Supervisor will provide recommendations on process improvement to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the patent support staff. This position will require availability to work overtime as necessary.

  • Senior Network Engineer

    Foley Hoag seeks a Senior Network Engineer to be responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of the firm’s voice, data and internet networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the firm. The role is responsible for maintaining and administering all networking hardware, network services, and network management software. The Senior Network Engineer provides advanced technical support for voice, data and internet network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, ensures network systems are highly available and compliant with current industry best practices, and acts as a network resource for other firm projects as needed.

    The Senior Network Engineer will need a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. The  Senior Network Engineer will need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep understanding of network infrastructure protocols and application transport protocols is highly desired.

  • Patent Docket Specialist

    Foley Hoag seeks a Patent Docket Specialist with a solid understanding of the United States, International and various foreign Patent Office rules, procedures and guidelines. He/she must be able to apply this information correctly when reviewing PTO submissions to ensure we are meeting the requirements set in the respective communications. The integrity of the information maintained in the system is vital to ensuring the legal staff meet critical deadlines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and maintaining patent prosecution files, maintaining database, entering deadlines and other case-specific data into docketing system, interpreting documents and identifying deadlines, preparing weekly and periodic reports, and following-up on deadlines.
