Professional Development Specialist

Foley Hoag seeks a Professional Development Specialist to work in collaboration with the Director of Professional Development, Professional Development Senior Managers, department chairs and practice group leaders, and business service professionals in order to support the professional development and career success of Foley Hoag attorneys.



Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Professional Development (PD) team as needed on all facets of attorney PD, including training, mentoring, and review processes
  • Assist with planning and implementation of internal training programs, including coordinating with vendors, researching and offering recommendations for optimal remote/hybrid formats, drafting invitations, tracking registrations and attendance, updating and posting resources, and compiling feedback
  • Oversee CLE accreditation process for internal training programs, including tracking compliance with requirements, submitting program materials and CLE forms, and responding to attorney inquiries
  • Facilitate attorney engagement with external programs and webcasts, including researching and recommending programs, coordinating group enrollment, overseeing enrollment for MA attorneys in mandatory admission course, and monitoring PLI and other external program usage
  • Provide support for attorney feedback and review processes, including coordinating 90-day feedback process, tracking annual and mid-year reviewer designations and reviews, compiling review materials, updating review summaries, and tracking career development recommendation 
  • Provide support for department mentoring programs, including managing mentoring database, distributing mentoring resources, monitoring for necessary mentor changes, supporting logistics for Lateral Integration Group, and assisting with mentor programming
  • Assist with production of quarterly PD newsletters, including creating content, coordinating team contributions, and selecting graphics
  • Manage PD intranet and external FH website content, and social media contributions, including updating PD intranet resources, envisioning and recommending optimal formatting, and creating PD website and social media content
  • Assist with implementation of PD projects, including online staffing modules, department benchmarks, and special programming
  • Research and compile data on PD-related trends, including associate compensation and bonuses, attorney specialization, attorney feedback processes, and hybrid training options

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in law firm, law school, or professional services firm supporting professional development
  • Detail and action-oriented with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong ownership drive, proactive and deadline driven
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all levels
  • Highly Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management systems
