Senior IT Operations Manager

Foley Hoag seeks a Senior IT Operations Manager who is responsible for overseeing the firm’s network, systems, and applications. The Senior IT Operations Manager will lead the IT Operations Team, consisting of engineers and analysts who are responsible for the firm’s network infrastructure, server lifecycle, storage and database performance, desktops/laptops management, application packaging and deployment, disaster recovery, and business continuity. The Senior IT Operations Manager will work closely with the IT Director, Associate Director of IT, and Senior Manager of Information Security to ensure the highest level of user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the firm’s infrastructure by monitoring performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
  • Establishes policies, procedures, and standards to achieve operational objectives
  • Oversees selection and training of qualified IT personnel to ensure unit efficiency
  • Supervises IT Operations Team in the delivery of IT services and support
  • Participates in design, implementation, and operation of technical solutions to achieve firm and departmental goals
  • Manages the operation of firm datacenters and other physical IT assets
  • Oversees database administration, including tuning, upgrades and maintenance
  • Maintains operational plans for Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and High Availability for all IT Services
  • Escalates any risks/issues to Director of Information Technology with proposals to address same
  • Remains up-to-date on all technologies, and make recommendations for upgrades, new systems, and emerging technologies
  • Oversees asset inventory management
  • Works as part of the IT Leadership team ensuring smooth transitions and resolutions for all user-reported technology issues
  • Provides support and guidance to stakeholders via support desk
  • Manages relationships with vendors and third-parties used in the procurement and delivery of IT assets and services
  • Controls costs and budgets regarding IT assets and services
  • On-call for emergency escalations during off-hours, weekends, and holidays
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of IT

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration
  • 5+ years of experience managing people in a network or information systems environment
  • Experience installing, configuring, and operating various systems
  • Thorough knowledge of networking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated success performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis on complex IT systems and processes
  • Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work calmly during stressful and high pressure emergency situations
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, IT, or relevant field, or equivalent experience
