Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for a candidate with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or immunology.
We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills. We have openings for both entry-level and experienced candidates. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, immunooncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology would be particularly useful. A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.
We staff our clients’ patent matters leanly, affording patent agents an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. Associates typically work one-on-one with partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact. Such experience has contributed to the firm’s consistently excellent rankings in various national satisfaction surveys and industry recognition lists.
