Technology Specialist - Computer Technology

Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York office for a Technology Specialist with a background in Computer Science or a related field such as Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Engineering. We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and 0-3 years of patent prosecution experience. The position will involve representation of a variety of technology companies, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, in patent prosecution related to software inventions.
An M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or a B.S. in a relevant field coupled with relevant legal, industry, or technical writing experience, is preferred. A successful candidate who is not already a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. A general understanding of artificial intelligence concepts is required. Technical experience in the areas of machine learning, image analysis, cryptography, or software architecture would be particularly useful.
