New England Electricity Restructuring Roundtable

Storage and/or Green Hydrogen: Holy Grail(s) in Fully Decarbonizing the Northeast?

Location

Interactive Online Meeting

Date/Time

December 10, 2021 9:00AM–12:30PM

Analyses of the Northeast states’ decarbonization pathways all call for substantial electrification of the heating and transportation sectors and the greening of the power sector with wind and solar. Energy storage in its many forms (batteries, pumped storage, hydro, thermal, and even green hydrogen) is likely to be an essential ingredient in ensuring that clean electricity is available 24/7. Green hydrogen can also potentially play critical roles in greening our gas supply for use in natural gas-fired power generators, for heating our buildings, and for fuel-cell vehicles.
