2021: A Foundational Year for New York Cannabis

May 20, 2021 2:30PM–3:30PM

New York, striving not to be outdone by its neighbors, finally passed the Marihuana Regulation and Tax Act (“MRTA”), legalizing and regulating cannabis use and possession for adults 21 and older, and, most importantly, finally setting New York on track for the creation of a regulated adult-use marketplace. While much is outlined in MRTA for how the industry will roll out, much more remains for the newly created Cannabis Control Board (“CCB”) and Cannabis Advisory Board (“CAB”) to flesh out. What are the trends that we see outlined in MRTA? And more so, where are the CCB and CAB likely to look at and consider in addressing any unanswered questions?

Please join Foley Hoag professionals Michael C. McQueeny, Erica Rice, and Jesse Alderman for an update on the status of the cannabis marketplace in New York, and how best to prepare for the significant cannabis opportunities developing in the Empire State. Our professionals have worked on various cannabis issues in the State of New York, and have worked in depth in several emerging marketplaces that have flipped the switch to adult use.

This webinar is designed to orient businesses and individuals regarding the current state of the marketplace, developments in law, areas for further regulatory development, and a timeline on where the industry is heading in New York in 2021 and beyond.
