Getting Real: A 'Video Podcast' Series
Hosted by Foley Hoag partner Veronica Jennings to generate dialogue among and build community with women lawyers
These days, we are looking at this widespread remote working scenario as an opportunity to enhance business relationships by reexamining professional boundaries and relying on means such as video conferences and phone calls. This "video podcast" series consists of discussions with female and male attorneys about issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope you find them interesting and helpful and we are grateful to all the lawyers who made time to talk with us.
Guest: Marty Murphy, Partner, Foley Hoag LLP
In today's episode, Veronica gets real with Foley Hoag litigation partner Marty Murphy, President of the Boston Bar Association (BBA)for the 2020-2021 term. Veronica and Marty discuss the BBA’s advocacy for prisoners - in particular pre-trial detainees - who face extraordinary risks during the time of the pandemic, and the organization's efforts to bring that to the public’s attention. Marty also examines access to counsel for prisoners right now, the pressure pre-trial detainees feel to plead guilty so that they can avoid incarceration during the pandemic, and the special obligation lawyers have to try to do something to ensure that the prisons are safe.
