Foley Hoag to Speak at 2012 BIO International Convention
Foley Hoag Welcomes the BIO International Convention to Boston
June 11, 2012
At this time next week, the Boston area will be hosting some of the leading minds in biotechnology when the 2012 BIO International Convention comes to town.
BIO is the definitive gathering of the top international players in biotechnology and life sciences. Having the event in Boston showcases the area’s importance in the biotechnology and life sciences industry. The BIO website identifies Massachusetts as a biotechnology “supercluster” owing to the scope and variety of its resources. They include more than 400 life sciences companies, the top-five NIH-funded hospitals, and 122 colleges and universities, 40 of which offer advanced degrees in life sciences.
Foley Hoag is among the hundreds of participants that are exhibiting and speaking at BIO. The firm is an event sponsor, and two Foley Hoag attorneys, Hemmie Chang and Beth Arnold, will contribute to the Business Development Track by speaking on panels on licensing issues and drug development partnerships, respectively.
BIO will be held in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on Summer Street in downtown Boston. Biotech and pharmaceutical companies, governments and investors will be well represented in the exhibition hall and on the speaking slates. BASF, Lilly, Genentech, Merck, Pfizer, Bayer, Abbott, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi, Biogen, EMD Millipore, Genzyme, AstraZeneca, Amgen are among the companies speaking and exhibiting. In addition, dozens of small companies working on specific innovations will be there to attract attention from investors and development agencies from around the world.
