Foley Hoag’s Rebecca Cazabon Named One of the Top Women of Law by Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly
Designation Honors Women Who Have Demonstrated Outstanding Accomplishments
October 15, 2012
Foley Hoag lawyer Rebecca M. Cazabon has been named one of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s “Top Women of Law,” the publication’s annual survey of women lawyers who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishment in private practice, corporate law, and social advocacy.
Cazabon and the other honorees were recognized for their accomplishments at a luncheon hosted by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly on Oct. 12, 2012 at the Hynes Memorial Convention Center. The keynote speaker was Massachusetts State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump, the first women elected to that post.
The Lawyers Weekly Top Women of Law honors women who have made inspiring contributions in fields including pro bono, social justice, advocacy, and business. The award highlights women who are pioneers, educators, trailblazers and role models.
Cazabon, Foley Hoag’s pro bono managing attorney, is a prominent victim rights advocate. She represents domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in Massachusetts courts and before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. She also manages and coordinates pro bono work for Foley Hoag’s lawyers and develops and coordinates firm trainings.
Cazabon received a Shining Star Award from the Victim Rights Law Center for advancing the rights of sexual assault survivors. She is an appointed member of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono Services, a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services, and serves as co-director of the Massachusetts Domestic & Sexual Violence Council.
“This is much-deserved recognition for an attorney who has dedicated much of her professional life to protecting the rights of the most vulnerable members of society,” said Claire Laporte, partner and pro bono coordinator at Foley Hoag. “Victims of crime, domestic violence, and sexual assault have a great ally in Rebecca, and all of us at Foley Hoag appreciate Lawyers Weekly for recognizing her work on their behalf.”
