June 5, 2013
On June 17 and 18, 2013, Foley Hoag LLP will host “Class Actions and Alternatives for Resolving Aggregate Claims: New Decisions, Trends and Strategies for Plaintiffs and Defendants,” a comprehensive two-day conference presented by Law Seminars International (LSI). Litigation partner and program Co-Chair John Shope and litigation partner Nicholas Theodorou will each participate in featured discussions.
The conference will explore recent developments in class action law, many of which have led some to predict a decline in class actions in court. Session topics include updates on national class action and MDL litigation trends; arbitration clauses; current issues in class certification; recent wage and hour class actions; CFPB and the potential impact on securities and financial industry class actions; Qui Tam litigation; and the future for class actions as a form of aggregate litigation.
In addition to providing introductory remarks at the start of each day, Shope will speak on “Arbitration Clauses: Emerging Law from Follow-on Cases After AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion,” an overview of recent and pending class action cases (June 17).
Theodorou will examine “Qui Tam Litigation as a Model for Replacing Private Class Action Enforcement” from the plaintiff perspective (June 18).
Joining Shope as Program Co-Chair is Derek T. Ho, Esq. of Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, P.L.L.C.
“Class Actions and Alternatives for Resolving Aggregate Claims: New Decisions, Trends and Strategies for Plaintiffs and Defendants” will take place at the Foley Hoag offices at Seaport West - 155 Seaport Boulevard in Boston.
