Foley Hoag Partner Julia Huston Named President-Elect of the Boston Bar Association

September 4, 2013

Foley Hoag LLP partner Julia Huston has been named president-elect of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) for a one-year term. Continuing to serve on the BBA Executive Committee, she will become president of the BBA next September 1, 2014. Previously, Huston served as the BBA’s vice president, treasurer and secretary. Huston is also a trustee of the Boston Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the BBA.

Huston practices in Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Departments; serves as chair of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright and Unfair Competition practice group; and co-chair of the Advertising and Marketing practice group.

“I am honored and excited to serve as president-elect of the BBA,” said Huston. “The BBA stands for the professional values that are most important to me as a lawyer. I believe that lawyers should actively work to improve our profession, make our communities better places, and ensure that everyone has access to our courts regardless of their resources. I look forward to working on those issues as part of a strong and diverse team in the coming year.”

Huston is highly regarded for achieving outstanding results for clients in high-stakes intellectual property cases. Her practice includes litigation, counseling and strategy in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, Internet commerce, domain name piracy, false advertising, unfair competition and patents.

A longtime supporter of civil legal services for the underprivileged, Huston previously served as chair of the Equal Justice Coalition, president of Greater Boston Legal Services, and president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts.
