Leading Patent Lawyer David Halstead Joins Foley Hoag as Partner

Halstead’s Appointment Bolsters Foley Hoag’s Leading Intellectual Property Practice

Foley Hoag LLP today announced that David Halstead, Ph.D., has joined the firm effective immediately as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department. Halstead joins Foley Hoag with over 15 years of experience in helping clients develop and optimize global patent strategies.

Halstead’s practice will concentrate on the biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, focusing on obtaining patent protection for innovative technologies and helping clients navigate patent landscapes. Halstead joins a marquee intellectual property practice group at Foley Hoag that reaches across numerous industries to support clients in patent prosecution and post-grant proceedings, patent litigation, licensing and strategic alliances, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, advertising and marketing.

Leveraging his worldwide experience, Halstead will help clients devise effective global patent strategies. Additionally he will advise clients on product life-cycle management, including Hatch-Waxman and Orange Book issues.

Halstead received his B.S. in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University, his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Harvard University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
