Foley Hoag Attorney Eric Haskell Receives Outstanding Achievement Award from Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project
June 16, 2014
Foley Hoag LLP attorney Eric A. Haskell was the recipient of the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project's (PAIR) Outstanding Achievement Award, presented on June 11 in Boston. Haskell and other awardees were honored at the organization's 2014 Gala, which was also a celebration of PAIR's 25-year history.
PAIR annually recognizes attorneys, mentors, law firms and business leaders whose efforts provide hope and new beginnings to asylum-seekers, torture survivors and immigration detainees. Haskell was specifically recognized for his extraordinary pro bono commitment to a Cambodian client in his epic, five-year struggle for relief from deportation, where he finally prevailed.
"It was a sincere privilege to assist my client and to help him remain in the U.S. with his family," Haskell said. "Immigration and asylum laws are incredibly complex, with obstacles and red-tape at every turn. I am fortunate to work at a firm such as Foley Hoag that fully realizes the importance of PAIR's mission, and allows me to dedicate time and resources to such a deserving organization."
Haskell's practice at Foley Hoag focuses on commercial litigation, class action defense, and appeals in both state and federal courts.
The Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project (PAIR) is the premiere provider of pro bono immigration legal services to asylum-seekers and immigrants unjustly detained in Massachusetts. In FY 2013, PAIR pro bono attorney representation exceeded $6.5 million, and overall PAIR has a 95% successful outcome in its asylum cases. PAIR provides hope and a new beginning to asylum-seekers, torture survivors and immigration detainees.
