Foley Hoag LLP partner Hemmie Chang will speak at BioNetwork Partnering Summit 2014, being held October 27-29, 2014 in Laguna Niguel, CA. This event is the essential platform for business development executives across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space to efficiently come together and develop relationships that lead to strategic partnerships.
Chang, who serves as Chair of Foley Hoag's Licensing & Strategic Alliances Practice Group, will be featured on a panel entitled "Exploring Alternative Sources of Early Stage Funding." This session will take a look at the current state of early stage funding; the trend for pharma to supplement internal R&D investments with outside funding from major foundations; the role U.S. government is playing in funding for drug discovery; other sources that are available to fund a commercial launch; and the importance of innovative public-private partnerships to support advancement.
Chang will be joined by Steven Bartz, Director of Worldwide Licensing at Merck; Harry Gruber, Chief Executive Officer and President of Tocagen Inc.; Luc Dochez, Chief Business Officer at Prosensa Therapeutics; and Todd Haim, Program Director, SBIR Development Center at the National Institutes of Health.
