Foley Hoag Partner Julia Huston Named President of the Boston Bar Association
September 2, 2014
Foley Hoag LLP partner Julia Huston has been named president of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) for a one-year term, effective September 1.
Previously, Huston served as the BBA’s president-elect, vice president, treasurer, secretary, Chair of the Amicus Committee, Co-Chair of the Delivery of Legal Services Section, Co-Chair of the Litigation Section and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Committee. She is also a trustee of the Boston Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the BBA.
Huston practices in Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Departments; serves as chair of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright and Unfair Competition practice group; and co-chair of the Advertising and Marketing practice group.
“The firm congratulates Julia as she begins her term as BBA President,” said Foley Hoag Co-Managing Partner William Kolb. “Her long-time commitment to the BBA and its mission is emblematic of Julia's professional values - not only as a leading intellectual property lawyer, but also as an advocate for those in need within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
Huston is highly regarded for achieving outstanding results for clients in high-stakes intellectual property cases. Her practice includes litigation, counseling and strategy in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, false advertising and unfair competition.
A longtime supporter of civil legal services for the underprivileged, Huston previously served as chair of the Equal Justice Coalition, president of Greater Boston Legal Services, and president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Boston University, Harvard University and Boston University School of Law.
