Foley Hoag Partner Michael Keating Honored with Veterans Legal Services’ Distinguished Service Award
February 11, 2015
Foley Hoag LLP partner Michael B. Keating was honored with Veterans Legal Services’ Distinguished Service Award at the organization’s annual gala on February 6. The Distinguished Service Award is presented at the gala each year to recognize “the recipient’s dedication of time, expertise, or resources to make a difference.”
Keating is the Chair of the Board of The Boston Foundation and has been the firm’s leading trial lawyer for over thirty years. He was the 2013 recipient of The Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall Award, which recognizes a member of the Boston community who best embodies the mission of the American Constitution Society, and in 2011, was appointed by the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court to serve as Chair of a search committee to select the first Court Administrator for the Massachusetts court system. Keating is an Instructor of Civil Trial Practice at Northeastern Law School and a past President of the Boston Bar Association.
“Receiving the Distinguished Service Award is truly an honor,” said Michael Keating. “I highly value the work being done by Veterans Legal Services, and share in its commitment to provide great assistance and representation to veterans who have provided a tremendous service to our country.”
Veterans Legal Services promotes self-sufficiency, financial security and stability by providing comprehensive and accessible legal services to low-income veterans in the Boston area. The goal of its gala is to raise awareness and funding for the organization, and to celebrate the accomplishments of its staff, board of directors, committees, and volunteers throughout the previous year.
