Foley Hoag Partners Daniel Schimmel and Anthony Mirenda to Participate in NYIAC Seminar on Corruption and International Arbitration

Foley Hoag LLP Partners Daniel Schimmel and Anthony Mirenda will participate in the New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC) seminar, “Corruption and International Arbitration: A 360º View,”  taking place on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in New York.

At the event, Schimmel and fellow panelists will provide a comprehensive view of the interplay between corruption investigations and international arbitration in both commercial and investment arbitration. They will discuss a broad range of topics including arbitrability, jurisdiction, admissibility, burden of proof for allegations of corruption, enforcement, and cultural differences in the perspectives of arbitrators. Mirenda will serve as moderator.

As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Schimmel represents clients in international commercial litigation in the United States, international arbitrations, and international corruption investigations. He leads the International Litigation & Arbitration Practice in the firm’s New York office.

Mirenda represents national and international corporations and their officers, directors and others in federal criminal and regulatory investigations, particularly concerning allegations of securities, health care and government contracting fraud. He has tried complex civil and criminal cases in federal and state courts around the country. 

Originating in 2013, NYIAC is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes and enhances the conduct of international arbitration in New York and offers educational programming.  Foley Hoag is a founding member of NYIAC.
