Foley Hoag Partners Gwendolyn Jaramillo and Anthony Mirenda to Speak on Anti-Corruption Laws at RMMLF Conference

Foley Hoag LLP Partners Gwendolyn Jaramillo and Anthony Mirenda will speak at the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s (RMMLF) Special Institute on Human Rights law and the Extractive Industries, to be held February 18-19 at the Marriott Panama Hotel in Panama City, Panama. The two-day program will feature sessions on the increasing body of international human rights law and the practical approaches taken by industry to respond to human rights concerns and issues.
Jaramillo and Mirenda’s panel, “Anti-Corruption Laws,” will focus on the international framework of anti-corruption laws and the interplay of the emerging collaborative processes, stakeholder engagement and involvement of non-legal actors in negotiating human rights laws. The presentation will specifically address the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials, Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the UN Convention Against Corruption, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Canada Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act, and the U.K. Bribery Act.
Jaramillo’s diversified international practice encompasses transactional, trade, general corporate and compliance concerns. She assists clients in the extractive, natural resources, technology, and life sciences sectors on developing and implementing of trade compliance and social responsibility strategies, policies, and procedures, as well as emerging legal and regulatory requirements in these areas.
Mirenda’s practice includes the representation of privately owned and publicly held companies as well as state-owned enterprises operating in the energy sector in anti-corruption and anti-fraud compliance, internally and externally driven investigations and disputes.
