Attorney Alexandra Kerr Meise to Serve as Panel Chair and Instructor at Arbitration Events in Lagos, Nigeria

Foley Hoag LLP attorney Alexandra Kerr Meise will serve as a panel chair and instructor for two arbitration-related events taking place in Lagos, Nigeria between June 22-25, 2016.

On Thursday, June 23, Meise will chair a panel discussion at The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Arbitration in Africa Conference, taking place at the Lagos Court of Arbitration Centre Conference Hall.  The panel, “Report from Arbitration Institutions and Actions from Addis Ababa Conference on the Role of Arbitral Institutions in Developing Arbitration in Africa,” will address the relationship between domestic, regional and international arbitral institutions and national courts in developing arbitration on the continent.

SOAS is a constituent college of the University of London which specializes in the study of the languages, cultures and societies of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.

On Saturday, June 25, Meise will instruct a course on selecting arbitrators at the Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA) Training Institute. LCA operates as an international institution for the resolution of domestic and transnational commercial disputes. It provides a forum for dispute resolution proceedings for all parties, irrespective of their location or system of law.

As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation and Arbitration and Corporate Social Responsibility practices, Meise’s practice includes preventing and resolving international disputes. She has significant experience in international investment and human rights disputes, particularly those related to economic and natural resource development.
