Foley Hoag Recognized on 2016 GAR 30 Ranking of World's Leading International Arbitration Practices
March 17, 2016
Foley Hoag LLP is now ranked among the top 30 law firms in the world in 2016 by Global Arbitration Review (GAR). The GAR 30 List is an annual ranking of the world's best international arbitration practices, based on the number of arbitral hearings conducted by a firm over a two-year period.
GAR takes into account the number of merits and jurisdictional hearings, the amount in dispute in those cases and the number of hours billed to arbitration. Ranking is also based on the number of arbitrator appointments a firm’s members have received and the number of individuals who appear in GAR’s sister publication, Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration – a guide to the leading practitioners in the field as selected by their peers.
Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration Practice has more than 40 partners and associates based in its Washington, Boston, New York and Paris offices, and specializes in the representation of sovereign States and State-owned enterprises in disputes before international courts and arbitral tribunals. The firm and its attorneys have also been ranked in the highest categories by Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, Chambers USA, Legal 500, American Lawyer, Arbitration Scorecard and Option, Droit et Affaires.
The firm has successfully represented more than 40 States before the International Court of Justice (ICJ); the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS); the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA); the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID); the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC); the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA); the American Arbitration Association (AAA); and other regionally or nationally based arbitral fora.
Foley Hoag also represents State-owned enterprises and private companies in international commercial and construction arbitration, conducted under both common law and civil law rules, and the national arbitration laws of numerous countries in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and North America.
