Foley Hoag Attorneys Joseph Basile, Christina Hiourreas and Andrew Loewenstein to Participate in ABA Section of International Law 2017 Spring Meeting

Foley Hoag LLP lawyers Joseph Basile, Christina Hioureas and Andrew Loewenstein will participate on panels at the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law’s 2017 Spring Meeting, being held April 25-29 in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme is “New Leaders, New Laws: 2017 and Beyond.”
Basile will moderate “How to Sell a Non-U.S. Business to a U.S. Public Company,” a panel discussion on the unique issues arising from U.S. regulatory, securities law and other legal requirements as well as the expectations that U.S. corporate buyers may have when buying a non-U.S. business. Basile is a partner and co-chair of Foley Hoag’s Business Department and of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group.
Hioureas will serve as panelist on "Climate Change Arbitration: The Key to 'Climate Justice for All' After the Paris Agreement,” where the advantages and disadvantages of using international arbitration will be explored as a means to enforce the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Hioureas is a counsel in Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department and chair of the United Nations Practice Group.
Lowenstein, a partner in Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, will participate in a roundtable discussion entitled “The South China Sea: Cauldron or Melting Pot?” He and fellow panelists will discuss how the conflict over the South China Sea has impacted world trade, commerce, politics and diplomacy.
