Foley Hoag Attorneys Tafadzwa Pasipanodya and Hery Ranjeva to Participate in 6th Annual AfSIL Conference

Foley Hoag LLP partners Tafadzwa Pasipanodya and Hery Ranjeva will take part in the sixth annual African Society of International Law (AfSIL) conference, being held October 27-28 at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This year's conference theme is "International Law and Natural Resources in Africa."

As a featured speaker on the "Regulation of Natural Resources through International Law" panel, Pasipanodya will deliver a presentation entitled “Mining and the Environment in Africa: Time to Strike the Right Balance,” discussing the steps that African states can take to protect their right to regulate the environment under international law while promoting mining.

Ranjeva, who served as one of the conference organizers, will provide remarks at the event's opening ceremony and also chair a panel on "Natural Resources and Sustainable Investment."

Pasipanodya and Ranjeva are both members of Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration Department.

Pasipanodya, resident in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, represents sovereign States in contentious and advisory matters concerning international law. Her practice is focused on advising States in investor-State arbitrations and State-to-State disputes concerning mineral resources, environmental harm, territorial and maritime claims, as well as human rights.

Ranjeva is resident in Foley Hoag’s Paris office. He focuses his practice on international law, international litigation and arbitration matters, and frequently represents sovereign states, companies and individuals before domestic courts. Ranjeva also counsels foreign investors operating in Madagascar.
