Foley Hoag Attorneys to Speak at ABA Section of International Law 2019 Annual Conference

April 8, 2019

Foley Hoag LLP attorneys Gwendolyn Jaramillo, M. Arsalan Suleman and Diana Tsutieva will speak at the ABA Section of International Law 2019 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. on April 9-13, 2019.

This event is expected to feature more than 60 panel discussions that explore the theme of “Other Voices in Private and Public International Law.”

Jaramillo will be a panelist on “The Need for Enhanced Due Diligence in Cross-Border M&A Transactions in Light of New Laws,” which will use a hypothetical fact pattern to highlight the wide range of critical issues that must now be considered when doing international M&A transactions, in particular in light of the increased significance of review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Suleman will participate on the “The Trump Effect on the Future of Global Dispute Resolution” panel, discussing ways in which the Trump administration’s approach to foreign policy has diverged from past administrations, and how this has had an impact on global dispute resolution efforts.

Tsutieva, who is the incoming co-chair of the Eurasia/Russia Committee of the ABA Section of International Law, will moderate the “China’s New Route to the Silk Road: Challenges and Opportunities for the Eurasian Region” panel. She and panelists will explore the legal and regulatory concerns raised by Belt and Road Initiative projects from the perspective of Central Asia, Caucasus and Russia, and from the perspective of public and private law.

Jaramillo is co-chair of Foley Hoag’s International Business practice group and head of its Trade Sanctions and Export Controls practice. Both Suleman and Tsutieva are members of the firm’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department.
