Foley Hoag Partner Tafadzwa Pasipanodya to Speak at UN on Public Private Partnership Infrastructure Contracts

April 11, 2019

Foley Hoag LLP partner Tafadzwa Pasipanodya will be a featured speaker at a side event of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development on April 15, 2019. The event, organized by the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie and the network of Ministries of Finance of Francophone Low Income Countries, will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Pasipanodya will take part on a session entitled “Public Private Partnerships: Instruments to Use with Caution,”  during which panelists will lead a discussion with UN delegates on the costs, risks, and benefits of using public private partnerships (PPPs) to finance infrastructure.

Relying on her experience in investment arbitrations and an analysis conducted by Foley Hoag on the World Bank’s Guidance on PPP Contractual Provisions, Pasipanodya will provide recommendations on the negotiation of PPP contracts that are balanced and serve long-term interests of state parties.

As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Pasipanodya represents sovereign States in contentious and advisory matters concerning international law. Her practice is focused on advising States in investor-State arbitrations and State-to-State disputes concerning mineral resources, environmental harm, territorial and maritime claims, as well as human rights.
