Inductees recognized as best practitioners in their field
August 14, 2019
Foley Hoag LLP partner Jonathan Ettinger has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL), a professional association of distinguished attorneys who practice in the field of environmental law.
Formed in 2007, ACOEL is a professional association of lawyers dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice and the development of environmental law at both the state and federal level. Membership is by invitation only to lawyers who have practiced environmental law for at least 15 years and whose practice for the past five years has been at least 50 percent in environmental law; it is limited to practitioners who are considered to be the best lawyers in each state or jurisdiction of the United States.
Ettinger has been regularly ranked among top lawyers in the country by publications such as Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America. He was named Best Lawyers' 2017 Boston Litigation - Environmental "Lawyer of the Year," bestowed only to a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area. Ettinger is also a former co-chair of the Boston Bar Association's Environmental Law Section.
Foley Hoag is one of only a very few law firms nationwide to have more than one attorney selected for ACOEL membership. Partner Adam Kahn currently serves on the ACOEL Board of Regents, and partner Seth Jaffe is a past president of ACOEL, serving from 2013-2014.
