Three Foley Hoag Partners Named to 2019 Latinvex Top 100 Lawyers in Arbitration & Litigation List

February 14, 2019

Foley Hoag LLP partners Paul Reichler, Mélida Hodgson and Kenneth Juan Figueroa were recognized among Latin America's top 100 lawyers in arbitration and litigation for 2019 by Latinvex, an online publisher of daily news and weekly analysis on Latin American business.

Each year, the editorial staff of Latinvex selects the top attorneys from international law firms that represent Latin American clients. The publication ranked all three attorneys among the top lawyers in the Arbitration & Litigation category.

Reichler is Chair of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation and Arbitration Department. He has over three decades of experience representing Sovereign States in disputes with other States, and with foreign investors. Latinvex highlighted his recent victory for Nicaragua in a dispute with Costa Rica over maritime borders.

Hodgson focuses on Investor-State and commercial arbitrations, counseling governments and state-owned entities with respect to international investment protection obligations and business disputes. Latinvex noted her key role in successfully advising Venezuela against several ICSID arbitrations.

Figueroa focuses on international disputes, particularly on Investor-State matters, commercial and construction arbitration, and litigation. Latinvex emphasized his work representing Venezuela in several ICSID cases, including an ICSID Additional Facility arbitration brought by U.K.-based mining company Anglo American related to the termination of a nickel mining concession in which the arbitral tribunal rejected all claims for lack of merit.

Latinvex recently recognized Foley Hoag as a top international law firm in Latin America. Its 2019 rankings placed the firm at 2nd in litigation, 7th in arbitration and 16th overall.
