Foley Hoag Attorneys Ivan Urzhumov and Antoine Lerosier to Participate at Tour de Arbitration Conference
January 31, 2019
The conference gathers senior arbitration practitioners to discuss an array of topics, including effective advocacy in international arbitration; recent trends and concerns in international arbitration; the interface between domestic courts and arbitral tribunals; and party-appointed arbitrators.
Urzhumov will participate in a panel entitled “Should the Setting Aside of the Arbitral Award be Abolished?” He will discuss the reasons why national courts at the seat of arbitration should continue to be allowed to review arbitral awards and, if necessary, set them aside, although on a limited number of grounds that include jurisdiction, due process and international public policy.
Lerosier will join fellow panelists for a discussion on “World Investment Courts: Would It Work?” He will focus on the concepts of “sovereignty” and “politics” as key issues in the debate of whether world investment courts should be established.
Both Urzhumov and Lerosier are members of Foley Hoag's International Litigation & Arbitration Department. Urzhumov’s practice encompasses both commercial and investment arbitration, as well as international litigation, including cross-border asset tracing and recovery, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Lerosier works on investment and commercial arbitration cases under ICC, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules, as well as on public international law matters.
