Foley Hoag Counsel Christina Hioureas to Join Panel on Mediation at Asia ADR Week 2019

Foley Hoag LLP counsel and United Nations practice chair Christina Hioureas will be a featured speaker at Asia ADR Week 2019, taking place on June 27-29, 2019 at the Asian International Arbitration Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This year’s conference theme, “The Kintsukuroi Perspective: The Asian ADR Revolution,” ties the ancient Japanese art of Kintsukuroi – repairing broken pottery with gold – to the wider context of alternative dispute resolution in the global economy.

Hioureas will speak on the “Gentle Force of Compromise: Mediation” panel, where she will discuss whether the Singapore Convention on the International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, which will be open for signature in August 2019. She will also discuss the Singapore Convention means for enforcement of settlement agreements, specifically in Asia, and how mediation complements arbitration. 

As a member of the firm's International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Hioureas represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international disputes and public international law matters, and advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies.
