Foley Hoag Joins ABA Well-Being Pledge & Campaign

June 19, 2019

Foley Hoag LLP has announced that it has signed on to the American Bar Association’s Well-Being Pledge & Campaign.

Organized by the ABA Working Group to Advance Well-Being in the Legal Profession, the pledge and campaign were originated to support lawyer and law firm employee well-being and address the profession’s troubling rates of alcohol and other substance-use disorders, as well as mental health issues.

The campaign’s goals are to raise awareness, facilitate a reduction in the incidence of problematic substance-use and mental health distress, and improve lawyer and law firm employee well-being.

All firms signing on to the Well-Being Pledge commit to adopting and prioritizing its seven-point framework, which sets forth the core areas on which firms should focus and the concrete steps they should take as they seek to achieve those goals.

“Earlier this year, Foley Hoag implemented a wellness initiative very similar to the framework suggested by the ABA, so signing onto the Well-Being Pledge & Campaign was a natural step for the firm,” said Co-Managing Partner Kenneth Leonetti. “Our most valuable assets are our people, and we believe that it is vitally important to stand behind a program that emphasizes our commitment to the professional and personnel well-being of our attorneys and staff.”

Foley Hoag's participation with the ABA's Well-Being Pledge & Campaign coincides with its existing firmwide wellness initiative, For Your Health, which provides attorneys and staff with various means to enhance overall personal well-being. Its emphasis on occupational, financial, physical, emotional, family and social wellness ensures a comprehensive approach to maintaining personal health as well as a healthy, happy and productive work environment.
