Foley Hoag Attorney Christina Hioureas to Present at AALCO Meeting at UN

Foley Hoag LLP counsel and United Nations practice chair Christina Hioureas will be a featured presenter at a meeting organized by the Association of Asian Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) on March 25, 2019. The meeting will take place at the United Nations Headquarters. AALCO serves as an advisory body to its Member States in the field of international law and as a forum for Asian-African cooperation in legal matters of common concern.
Hioureas has been asked to present on the effects of rising sea levels on baselines and statehood, including the concept of continuity of statehood in circumstances of partial and complete deterritorizalition of small island States. In this context, she will discuss the various approaches proposed to date and offer additional approaches for consideration.
Hioureas is a member of Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration Department, and is resident in the firm's New York office. She represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international disputes and public international law matters, and advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies.
