Foley Hoag Attorneys to Speak at ABA Business Law Section Annual Meeting 2019

September 11, 2019

Foley Hoag LLP partners Meredith Haviland and Erica Rice will be featured speakers at the American Bar Association Business Law Section Annual Meeting 2019, taking place in Washington, D.C. from September 12-14, 2019.

Haviland will join the panel “Coming to America – European M&A Deal Trends Increasingly Found in U.S. Deals.” She will discuss M&A deal trends originating from Europe and why or why not they are becoming more common in the U.S. in the context of cross-border deals, including vendor due diligence and lock box mechanisms.

Rice will participate in the panel “Alternative Entities Top Ten: Liability and Governance Issues for Deal Attorneys and Litigators.” She will cover liability and governance issues facing both deal attorneys and litigators, including alternative business entities, contract formation and disputes, and litigation regarding alternative business entity disputes.

As co-chair of Foley Hoag’s Private Funds practice, Haviland represents private investment funds and investment advisers in all matters, including formation, investments, acquisitions, divestitures and regulatory matters.

Rice represents buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions, as well as advising early and growth-stage companies regarding entity formation, founder’s arrangements, financings, exit strategies and general corporate governance.
