Foley Hoag Partner Hemmie Chang Inducted into LMG Life Sciences Hall of Fame

Foley Hoag LLP partner Hemmie Chang was inducted into the LMG Life Sciences Hall of Fame at the publication's seventh annual award ceremony, held on September 18, 2019 at the Essex House in New York City. The event honors key law firms, lawyers and the innovative work being accomplished throughout the life sciences sector.
Chang, who serves as Co-Chair of the firm's Life Sciences Group and Chair of the Licensing & Strategic Alliances Practice, received this honor in recognition of her notable career, dedication to clients and significant influence on the life sciences industry.
At Foley Hoag, Chang regularly handles high profile intellectual property matters and has closed more than $10 billion in deals across diverse therapeutic areas in recent years. For over two decades, she has represented clients within the bio pharmaceutical, medical device, gene and cell therapy and genomics sectors on a variety of licensing transactions. These matters have involved a broad range of intellectual property assets, including patents, trade secrets, brand names and copyrights.
Most recently, Chang represented Bridge Biotherapeutics in a €1.1 + billion collaboration and license agreement with Boehringer Ingelheim; LegoChem Bio in a $400+ million multi-target research collaboration and license agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited; and Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in a $650+ million collaboration peptide deal with Zealand Pharma. She also represented Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in three collaborations totaling over $4.5 billion in potential deal value and $250 million in upfront and equity investments.
In addition to Chang's honor, Foley Hoag partner Barbara Fiacco was shortlisted in the General Patent Litigator of the Year – New England category. Fiacco currently serves as President Elect of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and was recently named Boston’s 2020 Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers.
