Three Foley Hoag Partners Named "Lawyers of the Year" by Best Lawyers 2020

Recognition reflects individual abilities, professionalism and integrity, as determined by peers.

September 5, 2019

Best Lawyers has named Foley Hoag partners Barbara Fiacco, Julia Huston and Seth Jaffe as 2020 “Lawyers of the Year.” The distinction is presented annually to one stand-out lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area. Selections are based on voting averages received during exhaustive peer-review assessments conducted by Best Lawyers with thousands of lawyers throughout the year.

Fiacco, Boston’s Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice “Lawyer of the Year,” represents clients in complex intellectual property and patent litigation matters. She currently serves as President Elect of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). Fiacco was previously honored by Best Lawyers as Boston's Biotechnology Law "Lawyer of the Year" in 2018.

Huston, Boston’s Trademark "Law Lawyer of the Year," is Co-Chair of Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department. She is well known for achieving outstanding results for clients in high-stakes intellectual property cases. Huston was previously recognized by Best Lawyers as Boston’s Copyright Law "Lawyer of the Year" in 2017 and Boston's Trademark Law Lawyer of the Year in 2015.

Jaffe, Boston’s Environmental Litigation “Lawyer of the Year,” is a coordinator of Foley Hoag’s Environmental Practice Group. He is a leading practitioner in environmental compliance and related litigation. Jaffe was previously honored by Best Lawyers as Boston's Environmental Law "Lawyer of the Year" in 2010, 2015 and 2018, and Boston’s Environmental Litigation “Lawyer of the Year” in 2013 and 2016.

Receiving "Lawyer of the Year" recognition by Best Lawyers reflects the high level of respect a lawyer has earned among other leading lawyers in the same communities and practice areas for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.

Best Lawyers is known as the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession. The 2020 edition - which lists 33 Foley Hoag attorneys - recognizes lawyers in 140 practice areas, covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
