August 12, 2020

Foley Hoag LLP has been ranked by India Business Law Journal in its 2020 survey of the best foreign law firms for India work. Foley Hoag ranked in the “Significant Players” category, making this the firm’s 10th year of inclusion in the publication.

India Business Law Journal highlighted Foley Hoag for representing Alembic Pharmaceuticals on global patent prosecution and portfolio strategy work, and acting for Jana Care on the launch of its first full-time U.S. operations in Boston. The journal indicated that Neeta Sanghavi, head of legal at Avendus Capital, engaged Foley Hoag for advice on international fund documentation, guidance on marketing and solicitation of funds in the U.S., the use of derivatives and compliance with U.S. laws. Sanghavi told the journal the firm is “very good, prompt, effective and pragmatic,” providing “excellent services and great value.”

The journal reported Sandeep Saraf, head of compliance and legal at White Oak Capital Management India, consulted the firm on similar matters. “We are quite satisfied with the services of Foley Hoag and they hold strong amongst other international law firms,” he told the publication, which also noted that Foley Hoag continues to represent the Republic of India in an investor/state arbitration with Louis Dreyfus Armateurs.

India Business Law Journal provides in-depth analysis of the legal and regulatory challenges facing domestic and international businesses in India. Each year, the publication reveals its selection of the top law firms for India-related work in its intelligence report on foreign law firms. Now in its 11th year, the report draws on an analysis of law firms that have documented deals and matters with an Indian connection over the past 12 months.
