Foley Hoag Partner Hemmie Chang Honored as 2020 Top Woman of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly
November 18, 2020
Foley Hoag LLP partner Hemmie Chang was recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly at its 2020 Top Women of Law event, held virtually on November 17, 2020.
As Chair of Foley Hoag's Licensing & Strategic Alliances Practice and Co-Chair of the Life Sciences Group, Chang regularly handles high profile intellectual property matters. Clients routinely benefit from Chang’s strategic business perspective and legal acumen from her two-plus decades of experience within the bio pharmaceutical, medical device, gene and cell therapy and genomics sectors. She has closed more than $12 billion in deals in recent years across diverse therapeutic areas.
Chang's career-spanning dedication to client service and significant influence on the life sciences industry also earned her an induction into the LMG Life Sciences Hall of Fame in 2019.
In addition to a long history of community and civic involvement, Chang has worked on pro bono matters for the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF). Most recently, she has advised AALDEF on their efforts to support universities defending race-conscious admissions policies, and contributed to amicus briefs in support of affirmative action policies that detractors claim are discriminatory.
Each year, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Top Women of Law event celebrates women in the legal industry who are leaders in the profession, making an impact through their legal work, community service, pro bono work and mentoring.
