Foley Hoag Counsel Christina Hioureas to Co-Chair 2020 ASIL Midyear Meeting Practitioners Forum

Foley Hoag LLP counsel and United Nations practice group Chair Christina Hioureas, together with Professor Milena Sterio, Charles R. Emrick Jr. Calfee Halter & Griswold Professor of Law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and Bart Smit Duijzentkunst, Legal Officer at the United Nations, will co-chair the 2020 Practitioner’s Forum Committee of the American Society of International Law’s (ASIL) Midyear Meeting, to be held on Thursday and Friday, October 29-30, 2020. The meeting will take place in a fully virtual format, where participants can engage with presenters and discussants as well as each other.
The ASIL Midyear Meeting and Practitioner’s Forum encompasses several events, including a Research Forum, which features cutting-edge international law scholarship by more than 70 authors; and a Practitioners' Forum, including keynote remarks on “Digital Technology and Human Rights: Friends or Foes?” and a panel on “Global Issues Related to Arbitrating Data Breaches and Privacy Rights.”
As a member of the Foley Hoag International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Hioureas represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international disputes and public international law matters, and advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies.
