Foley Hoag Partner Paul Reichler Named Law360 International Arbitration MVP
October 5, 2020
Foley Hoag LLP partner and International Litigation & Arbitration Department Co-Chair Paul Reichler has been named an MVP of the year in International Arbitration by Law360. The Law360 MVP series profiles lawyers selected on the basis of their “successes in high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals and complex global matters” over the past year. Reichler was selected from among more than 900 nominations, and was one of only five lawyers selected in the International Arbitration category.
Reichler, who founded Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration practice, has built his career over the last 40 years representing Sovereign States in disputes with other States, and in disputes with foreign investors, before all of the world’s leading international courts and arbitral forums. In inter-State cases, he has achieved landmark victories for his clients in disputes over land and maritime boundaries; transboundary environmental harm; unlawful use of force; violations of fundamental human rights; and decolonization.
In investment cases, Reichler has led sovereign clients to victories against claimants’ challenging their public health and tobacco control regulations; restrictions on commercial development to protect historical and cultural heritage; environmental protection laws; and regulations governing the extraction of mineral or hydrocarbon resources.
Reichler is consistently recognized by leading publications, such as The American Lawyer, The New Times, Who’s Who Legal, Latinvex, Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America and Chambers USA, among others. In its Public International Law section, Chambers Global ranks Reichler, alone, in a special category as a “Star Individual,” above Band One (the highest ranking), given to lawyers with exceptional records in the field.
