February 18, 2021
Foley Hoag LLP welcomes the return of Hilary Dorr Lang as counsel in the firm’s Patent Prosecution, Strategy & Management practice, where she will assist clients with strategic intellectual property counseling across a broad spectrum of chemical arts.
Lang’s practice encompasses preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, performing patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, preparing opinions, and providing clients with due diligence assessments of patent portfolios in connection with technology transactions and acquisitions across a variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, small molecule drug discovery, medical devices, polymer chemistry, materials science, biochemistry, nutritional products and cosmetics. She also advises clients ranging from start-ups to large corporations, as well as universities.
Earlier in her career, Lang spent several years as an associate in Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department.
"We are pleased to welcome Hilary back to the firm," said Foley Hoag Co-Managing Partner Kenneth Leonetti. "Her extensive knowledge of chemistry and broad legal experience in developing and managing complex patent portfolios will enable us to provide additional patent prosecution depth for our life sciences clients."
Prior to rejoining Foley Hoag, Lang was a partner in the Nashville office of Waller and counsel at McNeill Baur, a life science-focused IP boutique. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California at Santa Cruz, a Doctor of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago, and a Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School.
