Foley Hoag Attorney Sara Mattern Named a Rising Star by Venture Capital Journal
January 8, 2021
Foley Hoag LLP associate Sara Mattern has been named one of the global venture capital community’s 40 Rising Stars under 40 for 2021 by Venture Capital Journal (VCJ).
Winners were selected from a field of over 150 nominees based on their accomplishments, expertise, and contributions to their firms and the industry, among other criteria. Mattern was one of only two individuals recognized in the “attorney” category.
According to VCJ, "Mattern serves as general outside counsel to clean energy, tech and life sciences emerging companies… As investments in cleantech continue to rise, Mattern is seen carving out a lane in the burgeoning area of ocean sustainability. The firm says her expertise in renewables is providing it with a competitive advantage."
At Foley Hoag, Mattern advises emerging companies, climate-oriented investors, and renewable energy companies on financings and strategic development. She works with clients in the clean energy, climate, sustainability and technology sectors on innovative technologies and business approaches to solving energy and sustainability challenges.
Foley Hoag partner Erica Rice was recognized last year in VCJ's inaugural edition of its 40 Rising Stars Under 40 program. Foley Hoag is one of only two firms to be represented consecutively in each VCJ 40 Under 40 list.
